I caught a bit about a south Minneapolis house fire on the TV news last night but didn't realize it was the Fjelde House until seeing your post, Ranty. This is a tragic event to follow all the work you and others have put into advocating for the home's historic significance and preservation value. All Minneapolitans and Minnesotans lost something in that fire.
I just this on the news. Did they say what the cause was? I'm willing to bet this wasn't an accident.
It's being investigated as arson.
My heart sank when I read the title of your post. I'm betting it's arson. How sad.
Ugh! and after all the work to keep the house standing! All us St. Paul preservation groups were talking about it. (PAM, HSP, RCHS)
So sorry to hear about this. If there is a culprit I hope they lose their thumbs!
